Banana Ragi Chocolate Balls – A Sweet Treat from Dadi’s Kitchen

A Sweet Evening in Dadi’s Kitchen
The golden glow of the evening sun spilled into the kitchen as Dadi mashed ripe bananas in a big brass bowl. “Bas thoda sa patience, Chotu… abhi tayyar ho jayenge!” she chuckled, as Chutki peeked curiously over the counter. Coopie, of course, had already stationed himself right under the table, hoping for a little treat to roll his way. The smell of cocoa and roasted ragi filled the air, and within minutes, Dadi rolled little chocolatey balls, dusted them lightly, and placed them in a shiny plate. The first bite was enough to make everyone’s eyes light up — soft, rich, and perfectly sweet without a drop of oil or refined sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas (medium‑sized)
  • 1 cup roasted ragi (finger millet) flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp jaggery powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, or walnuts)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method

  1. Peel and mash bananas until smooth.
  2. Add roasted ragi flour, cocoa powder, jaggery powder, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix well to form a soft dough‑like mixture.
  4. Add chopped nuts and combine.
  5. Roll into small bite‑sized balls.
  6. Place in the fridge for 15–20 minutes to set before serving.

Dadi’s Tip:
“Always roast ragi flour before using — it brings out a warm, nutty flavour and makes it easy to digest.”

💛 Enjoy these no‑cook, oil‑free delights with milk or your evening chai— or tuck them into Chotu and Chutki’s tiffin for a sweet surprise!
